Worked as an editor for the Commonwealth Times -- the independent voice of Virginia Commonwealth University. Printed twice weekly, the Times reached over 10,000 readers.

  • Assigned stories to staff and freelance writers.
  • Worked to improve and edit copy.
  • Wrote weekly column.
  • Coordinated section design with production manager.

2005-2006: Business Coordinator, Assistant to the Senior Minister

Worked as a "Jack of all trades" to the church community. Primarily, I was responsible for all things business related. I also served as the personal assistant to the senior minister.

  • Managed business interests of active church community.
  • Negotiated contracts with tenants and contractors.
  • Managed all use and maintenance of facilities on the campus.
  • Wrote, produced and published all church literature.

  • Studied alumina mining, refining and smelting operations.
  • Shadowed head of media and public affairs department.

Worked as a writer at Perth's only local daily newspaper. The West, as it's known locally, has an average weekly circulation of 580,000 and has been published since 1833.

  • Wrote stories about local issues and personalities.
  • Interviewed state ministers and local government officials.
  • Edited and proofread copy.
  • Participated in editorial board meetings.
  • Contributed photographs.
